Close to home, easy access for paddling, park rangers were present without being overbearing. The only thing about the park that I didn't like were the showers. The temperature controls were obviously broken and not being maintained. Really nice park! I would visit again.
But, the lake is frequently low, especially after August 1. In late 2016 and early 2017 the lake was to low to get our boat in at the dock. We have a sailboat that we keep on a trailer in the onshore storage area from April to October. The annual fee for this is $250, which is well worth it to be able to go for a sail anytime the weather allows it. But, the last few years the low water level has kept us onshore.
Spruce Run area is a great destination for fishing, hunting dog training, and practicing shooting. It does also have a beach area and good trails for walking.
There is a very nice campground near the water. It is usually full when the beach is open. There is no water or electric hookups, but there is a dump station.
Love taking kids here. It's nice and clean. I feel safe with my kid there.
I love Spruce Run for sailing and camping. It is located on a reservoir, so when the lake is full, it is perfect.
A great place for family fun or solo relaxation. There's a beautiful lake, camping, fishing, play grounds, trails and more. If you love the outdoors/nature this is a good place to go.
